Realm of Chaos, subtitled "Slaves to Darkness", is the 2nd Bolt Thrower album, recorded at Loco studios in April 1989, engineered by Tim Lewis. The cover art work is produced by Games Workshop.

Bolt Thrower's second tour of many through the world of metal and war. From the beginning of this masterpiece you are opened to the onslaught of death by Karl Willetts' Patton-like vocals. If General Patton was around in these days he would listen to Bolt Thrower and nothing else. Karl snarls like Cerberus at the gates of the Underworld. I can not think of one thing bad to say about this album, at all. Bolt Thrower named themselves after a boardgame played by a bunch of dorks, but they have turned the game into a violent, brutal nightmare of rape and sodomy. I highly recommend this for anyone who thinks they have balls.

It is produced by Bolt Thrower and Digby Pearson. The cover artwork was produced by Games Workshop. The whole album is closely tied to Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 game background and Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness was the title of a gaming book by Games Workshop released in 1988. The album was released on Earache Records: Mosh 13 in 1989. In 2005 a re-issue was released by Earache, featuring new artwork.
