The Honorary Title is a soulful indie rock band from Brooklyn, NY. The band, fronted by singer/songwriter Jarrod Gorbel, is rounded out by t Aaron Kamstra, guitarist John Wiley, and drummer Adam Boyd. The debut full-length album by Brooklyn duo Jarrod Gorbel (vocals and guitar) and Aaron Kamstra (everything else), Anything Else but the Truth skirts emo cliches from the album title and cover art to Gorbel's deep-toned, close-to-tuneless vocal style.

The Honorary Title was a rock band from Brooklyn, New York composed of Jarrod Gorbel, Aaron Kamstra, Jon Wiley, and Adam Boyd. Gorbel became known for his dark sense of humor, which often worked its way into the band's songs. Their first release was a self-titled EP. They received much attention and did major touring after they released a full length album on Doghouse Records in 2004 entitled, "Anything Else But the Truth".

Fronted by Jarrod Gorbel, the Honorary Title take cues from Dashboard Confessional's acoustic approach and Wilco's darker moments that result in an all new folk-rock-inflected strain of the emo virus. Breathy vocals and an acoustic guitar are Gorbel's mainstays on this impressive, self-titled entry, and if his lyrics appear ridiculously bleak at times, a welcome wryness occasionally crops up on this six-song EP. "Everything I Once Had," for instance, about a sad sack who gets dumped on the subway on Valentine's Day, is equally jarring and charismatic  . If a well-received tour with the aforementioned Dashboard saw Gorbel's star on the rise in 2003, the songs on The Honorary Title have cemented him as one to follow closely.
