The Stone Roses is the debut studio album by English rock band the Stone Roses. It was recorded mostly at Battery Studios in London with producer John Leckie from June 1988 to February 1989 and released in May of that year by Silvertone Records. The Stone Roses was not an immediate success, but grew popular with the band's high-profile concert performances, which also helped establish them as fixtures of the Madchester and baggy cultural scenes.

The Stone Roses made a stunning debut, then bled out in a slow agony of contractual disputes, internal discord, and, eventually, public indifference (though their sophomore release and swan song, Second Coming, is nowhere near as bad as people say). More prosaic than drugs or young death, this trifecta killed a career that now essentially consists of just one great record. But the story of The Stone Roses is really a tale of two records, divided by an ocean. And the results are brilliant, further supporting the case for classic album status- if support's needed.

The eponymous Album The Stone Roses, fused the acid house rave culture of Manchester during the late 80’s with an irresistible ‘jangle pop’ sound that captured the hearts of British ravers. Thematically, the album perpetuates ill feeling towards the Monarchy, Politicians and establishment in general.

Stone Roses The Stone Roses US CD album. Some albums really can change the world, and in 1989 this was one of them. The psychedlic dance extravaganza that was The Stone Roses ushered in the era of Madchester, baggy trousers, Kangols, and the Hacienda. From the magnificent protracted opening of "I Wanna Be Adored" (where, for once, the arrogance wasn't overdone) to the dying seconds of "Fools Gold," every note was perfect. Everyone has their own Stone Roses story, and I am no different. I was only nine when this album came, and obviously was too busy with my Batman fetish to follow the Madchester scene. As a 14 year old alt-radio fan, I dug "Love Spreads," but assumed it was the work of minor, almost one-hit-wonder caliber band.
