Blues for Allah is the eighth studio album by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded February 27 – May 7, 1975, and released September 1, 1975. It was the band's third album on their own Grateful Dead Records label and their third studio album in a row. Though it has not received RIAA certification as of 2019, Blues for Allah was the group's highest-charting album until 1987's In the Dark, reaching No. 12 during a thirteen-week stay on the Billboard Album Chart.
The Grateful Dead went into a state of latent activity in the fall of 1974 that lasted until the spring of the following year when the band reconvened at guitarist/vocalist Bob Weir's Ace Studios to record Blues for Allah. The disc was likewise the third to be issued on their own Grateful Dead Records label. When the LP hit shelves in September of 1975, the Dead were still not back on the road - although they had played a few gigs throughout San Francisco.
Produced by The Grateful Dead. Album Blues for Allah. Blues for Allah Lyrics. Arabian wind The needle's eye is thin The Ships of State sail on mirage And drown in sand Out in No-man's Land Where Allah does command. What good is spilling Blood? It will not Grow a thing. Taste eternity The swords sings Blues for Allah. Blues for Allah also features some remarkable sound sculpting, including the chirping of crickets and Garcia’s voice, highly manipulated through a voltage controlled amplifier. The song was first performed on March 23, 1975 at the SNACK benefit at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. Blues for Allah" Track Info. Written By Robert Hunter, The Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia & 6 more.
Lyrics to "Blues For Allah" song by Grateful Dead: Arabian wind, The needle's eye is thin, The ships of state sail on mirage, And drown in sand, Out i. .It will not grow a thing; Taste eternity the swords sing: Blues of Allah In 'sh'Allah. The thousand stories have come round to one again, Arabian night, Our Gods pursue their fight, What fatal flowers of darkness bloom from seeds of light
The Music Never Stopped Another highlight! This Bob Weir and John Barlow song combines a great amount of Funk and mystique. Blues for Allah This conclusion is surely the oddest on the album. And most Middle Eastern influenced. The opening section is quite creepy. There is a good amount of percussion, and the lyrics are sang in a Gregorian chant fashion. The melodies are very odd. A few minutes later, the tune adds in the rest of the instruments. The playing is also very erie.
