What if I can't be all that you need me to be? We've got a good thing going, we have some promises to keep But my addiction, it can be such a detriment Please believe in this my dear, I am more than penitent. What if everything's just the way that it will be? Could it be that I am meant to cause you all this grief? My warships are lying off the coast of your delicate heart And my aim is steady and true, as it's been right from the start

City And Colour Lyrics. What if I can't be all that you need me to be We've got a good thing going, we have some promises to keep But my addiction it can be such a detriment Please believe in this my dear, I am more than penitent. What if everything's just the way that it will be Could it be that I am meant to cause you all this grief My war ships are lying off the coast of your delicate heart And my aim is steady and true as it's been right from the start. There's a degree of difficulty in dealing with me From my haunted past comes a daunting.

On Little Hell, the third outing from City and Colour, Dallas Green laments, pines, and celebrates loves both won and lost, employing a dusky, electrified patina of old and new country with a tinge of soul that's miles (sonically) from his work with the post-hardcore outfit Alexisonfire. Equal parts Whiskeytown, the Low Anthem, and Jeff Buckley, the album is built on a foundation of melancholy, but never falls into complete despair.
Somehow, Little Hell ends up being Green’s most honest and intimate album yet. He still sings and writes like he’s not so sure just why everybody thinks he’s awesome but Little Hell does nothing except affirm that Green only becomes more awesome with time. Unlike Sometimes, Green is done singing empty cliches about heartbreak (I guess it helps that he’s married) and has chosen a road less travelled lyrically. It’s more bombast than we’re used from the City and Colour brand but it’s a very welcome change of pace. But yes, at the end of all roads, the reason why Green is even famous in the first place is still his angelic voice and, rest assured, it’s gone nowhere. Sorrowing Man’, another mid-tempo stroke of genius is typical Green melancholy but the man manages to stretch his voice to part of his range we haven’t heard since Alexisonfire’s Watch Out! in 2004.

NotesFor my family and my friends. For the helpers and the helpless. For the listeners and the lost... These are the songs from a restless mind. They are not for everyone, just those who need them. From all sides of my heart thank you.
