Mardi Gras is the seventh and final studio album by American band Creedence Clearwater Revival, released on April 11, 1972. The group disbanded after this album was released. Unlike previous albums, Mardi Gras had Stu Cook and Doug Clifford sharing songwriting and production with John Fogerty, as well as their own lead vocal contributions for the first time.
Profile: New York City-based rock and roll group who released several singles which were huge hits throughout Europe in 1970-71, followed by an eponymous album in 1972. The core of the group was three friends, Lou Burgio, Bob Azzara, and Flip Cesario, who had performed in other bands, including The Royal Teens and Joey & The Twisters in the early 1960's. Their first release, a cover of "Girl, I've Got News for You", reached in France, and moved high up the charts in Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and elsewhere in Europe.
In the future, Mardi Gras may be known as Fogerty’s Revenge. After all the carping about his egotism, and after the published complaints from his co-workers about his hogging the show, he has done what I never thought he would: allowed his cohorts to expose themselves in public. Ceding six of the new album’s ten selections to drummer Doug Clifford and bassist Stu Cook may have been an invitation to artistic suicide for them, but it sure proves that John was right all along.

In many areas, the term "Mardi Gras" has come to mean the whole period of activity related to the celebratory events, beyond just the single day. In some American cities, it is now called "Mardi Gras Day".
